Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. He is the face of Colorado for a lot of people across the globe. On my trips, I've met people who are from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell that you're from Colorado The first thing they say are Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief time in small folk groups. Danoff had written the song with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew it would become one of the Top 10 hits. The song was recorded by the singer within a couple of days after performing it to an enthusiastic audience on the streets of Washington D.C.
