Aisling Bea

Aisling was born on March 16 1984, in Kildare Ireland. She is one of Ireland's most successful and popular comedians. The comedian appeared alongside Stephen Fry on QI. Aisling O'Sullivan, also known by the stage name Aisling Bea (born March 16, 1984), is an Irish actor, writer and stand-up comedian. Bea began her stand-up show in the year 2011, following appearances as a guest on a variety of Irish TV shows as well as British series from the year 2009. In 2012, she started appearing on a variety of sketches and sitcoms. After she received an award from the Edinburgh Comedy Awards (ECA) in 2012, she began appearing often in various panel programs. In 2016 and 2017 she was the team leader for 8 Out of 10 Cats. She is also a contestant of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Her parents were Brian and Helen O'Sullivan and has a sister named Sinead. In 2012, she was awarded the So You Believe You're Funny Award for the second time. Bea is her name in honour of her deceased father. Aisling O'Sullivan, whose real name is as Cliodhnadh Aisling, was born at Kildare town in County Kildare. Bea's father Brian was an equine vet, who took his own life when Bea reached the age of three, was the victim of self-harm. The news of his death only at 13 years old. In 2017, Bea wrote an essay for The Guardian about the suicide of her father's relatives and took on the stage name Bea in tribute. Bea as well as her sister Sinead were taken care of by their maternal grandmother Helen (nee Moloney) who was a secondary school teacher, jockey trainer, and an ex-professional jockey. The family was obsessed with racing and horses. Bea was a trainer for the Irish National Stud in her early years. However, she knew, that racing wasn't what she wanted to be in a career and she preferred to perform.
